Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of The Meal Plan Vault (“the Service”), operated by The Meal Plan Vault (“we,” “our,” or “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the Service you confirm you meet these requirements.

2. Your account

• You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
• You are responsible for activity that happens under your account, including actions taken by other people or AI agents you give access to.
• Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

3. Households and shared content

The Service is organized around households. Recipes, meal plans, grocery lists, and pantry items belong to a household rather than to one person.

• Members hold a role of admin, editor, or viewer, which determines what they can change.
• Anything you add to a household is visible to the other members of that household. Do not add content you are not comfortable sharing with them.
• Household admins can invite and remove members and can delete the household along with its content.
• If you leave or are removed from a household, you lose access to that household's content, including content you contributed.

4. Plans, trials, and billing

• We offer a Free plan, a Pro plan ($9.99 per month or $99 per year), and a Household plan ($14.99 per month or $149 per year). Plan features and limits are described on our pricing page.
• New accounts include a 14-day trial of Pro features with no credit card required. When the trial ends, the account returns to the Free plan unless you subscribe.
• Payments are processed by Polar, which acts as the merchant of record and handles billing and applicable taxes. Your purchase is also subject to Polar's terms.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your billing settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
• Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. If something has gone wrong with your billing, contact us and we will try to put it right.
• We may change prices or plan features. We will give you notice before a change affects an existing paid subscription, and you may cancel if you do not accept it.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Break the law or infringe anyone's rights using the Service.
• Upload malware, attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or to other users' data, or interfere with its normal operation.
• Scrape, resell, or redistribute the Service or its content beyond your own household's use.
• Place an unreasonable load on the Service, including through automated requests or connected agents.
• Post content in shared or public areas, such as blog comments, that is unlawful, abusive, or harassing.

6. Your content

• You keep ownership of the recipes, photos, notes, and other content you add.
• You grant us a limited licence to store, copy, and display that content for the purpose of operating the Service for you and your household. We do not claim ownership of it and we do not sell it.
• You are responsible for having the rights to the content you upload.
• You can export your household's data at any time from Settings.

7. Importing recipes from other sources

The Service can import recipes from web pages, photos, and files. Lists of ingredients are generally not protected by copyright, but the surrounding text, photographs, and layout usually are. Imports are intended for your household's personal use. You are responsible for using imported material lawfully, and you should not republish or distribute it. We remove infringing content when it is reported to us.

8. AI features

The Service uses AI for recipe import, the cooking assistant, and related features. AI output can be wrong. In a kitchen that matters more than usual, so please read this carefully:

• Nutrition figures, cooking times, and temperatures are estimates, not guarantees.
• Nothing in the Service is medical, dietary, or food-safety advice. Do not rely on it for allergies, intolerances, medical diets, or for judging whether food is safe to eat. If you have an allergy or a medical condition, verify ingredients yourself and consult a qualified professional.
• Use normal food-safety practice regardless of what the Service says.
• Your prompts and relevant recipe content are sent to third-party AI providers to generate responses. See our Privacy Policy.

9. Connected AI agents (MCP)

The Service provides an MCP server so you can connect AI agents, such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor, to your account.

• Actions an agent takes with your authorization are treated as your actions. Connect only agents and clients you trust.
• An agent operates with your household role and can only reach the tools its granted scope allows. Read and write are separate scopes.
• Tool calls are recorded in an activity log you can review at Dashboard → Agents, and you can revoke a connection at any time. See our Security page.
• We are not responsible for the behaviour of third-party AI clients or for what you instruct them to do.
• We may rate-limit or suspend a connection that places an unreasonable load on the Service.

10. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties for authentication, hosting, payments, email, and AI, and can link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for those services, and your use of them is subject to their own terms.

11. Our intellectual property

The Service itself, including its software, design, and branding, belongs to us. These Terms do not give you any right to use our name or logo, or to copy the Service.

12. Feedback

If you send us suggestions, we may use them without obligation or compensation to you.

13. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these Terms, creates risk for other users, or is required to be closed by law. We will give notice where it is reasonable to do so. Deleting your account removes your data, subject to any retention described in our Privacy Policy.

14. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service running but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change, or remove features. If we discontinue the Service, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data.

15. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service or any AI output will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your circumstances.

16. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

17. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims and costs arising out of your content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing here removes consumer rights you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we will let you know by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
