    MCP server on every plan

A meal planner your agent can actually use.

The Meal Plan Vault speaks MCP, so Claude or whichever agent you use can fill in the week, build the grocery list, and check things off while you shop. You decide what happens. It does the typing.

    How it works

Four steps between you and a week of dinners.

Do every step by hand if you like it that way. Or say the word and your agent does the same four things through the same tools — you still approve what lands in the plan.

    1. 01

      Stock the vault

Paste a link, photograph a handwritten card, drop in a TikTok, or save from any cooking site. What comes back is a real recipe — ingredients, steps, and timings, not a screenshot.

      Fill the week

Move meals around the calendar yourself, put the choice to a household vote, or hand the whole week to your agent and check its work afterwards.

      Get the list

Every ingredient across the week rolls into one grocery list. Duplicates merge, quantities add up, and everything lands under the aisle you'll find it in.

    Your permissions, inherited

An agent gets the same household role you have. If you are a viewer, its agent can read the plan and nothing else.

    Approve tool by tool

Clients like Claude list every tool by name and let you set each one to ask first, always allow, or off.

    Reads and writes are separate

A read-only connection cannot reach a single write tool. The scope is enforced on the server, not in the client UI.

    Every call logged

Reads and writes both land in an activity log in your dashboard, with a timestamp and the name of the agent that made the call.

    Revoke in one tap

Disconnect an agent and its tokens stop working immediately. The record of what it did stays.

I'm out of heavy cream for the pasta recipe

Here are three substitutes for your carbonara:

    • Whole milk + butter (1 cup milk + 2 tbsp butter) — closest texture to the original
    • Coconut cream (same amount) — adds slight sweetness, dairy-free
    • Cream cheese thinned with milk — extra creamy, a little tangier

The first option gives the most authentic result. Want me to update the recipe with this swap?

What is The Meal Plan Vault?
The Meal Plan Vault is a household meal planning application built for families, shared households, and the AI agents they delegate to. It is not just a recipe keeper: the app ships with a built-in MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so any MCP-compatible agent — Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, Goose, Zed — can connect over OAuth and use the same 14 tools the app itself uses to read recipes, fill in the weekly meal plan, and build and check off grocery lists. Everything an agent does is recorded in an activity log you can audit in your dashboard. On the human side, every household member can participate in planning meals, voting on what to eat, and managing shared grocery lists, with AI-powered recipe import from over 500 websites and handwritten recipe cards, a drag-and-drop weekly meal calendar, pantry tracking to reduce food waste, and an AI cooking assistant called Chef Ava. The MCP server is included on every plan, including the free one; paid plans start at $9.99 per month with a 14-day free trial.
What can an AI agent actually do in The Meal Plan Vault?
A connected agent gets 14 real tools over the MCP server — five read tools and nine write tools — not a scraped view of your screen. It can search your recipes by title or tag, read a recipe in full with ingredients and instructions, read any week of your meal plan, schedule a meal into a specific day and slot, clear a slot, create a recipe, import a recipe from a URL, create a grocery list with ingredients consolidated by aisle, add or remove items on a list, check items off while you shop, and delete a list. That means you can say things like “plan next week around what is already in the vault and keep Tuesday meatless,” “turn that plan into a grocery list sorted by aisle,” or “I am at the store, check things off as I go” — and the agent picks the tools itself. Because the agent writes to the same database as the app, changes appear instantly for every household member, and the whole household sees the plan your agent built.
Is it safe to give an AI agent write access to my meal plan?
Delegation only works if you can audit it, so The Meal Plan Vault is built for that. Connections use OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, which means your password is never sent to the agent and there are no API keys to copy around. Access tokens expire every hour and rotate on every refresh. Read and write are separate scopes, so a read-only connection physically cannot reach any of the nine write tools, and each connection in your dashboard is badged with which access you approved. An agent inherits your household role and nothing more — a viewer’s agent can read the meal plan but cannot change it, and no agent can see households you are not a member of. Every single tool call is written to an activity log with a timestamp, the agent’s name, whether it was a read or a write, and whether it succeeded, all visible on the Agents page in your dashboard. Revoking a connection invalidates its tokens immediately, and the activity log survives the disconnect so the history stays intact.
    How does household voting work?
Household voting is one of The Meal Plan Vault’s signature features that eliminates the nightly “what’s for dinner?” debate. During the week, any household member can browse recipes in your shared vault and vote on meals they would like to eat. Each member gets a set number of votes per week, and they can distribute them across different recipes. By the time you sit down to plan the week’s meals, you can see exactly which dishes your household is most excited about, making it easy to build a meal plan that everyone is happy with. The voting results are displayed visually so you can quickly see the most popular choices. Children and partners who might not want to actively plan meals can still participate by simply tapping a thumbs-up on recipes that appeal to them. This collaborative approach means fewer complaints and more meals that everyone actually looks forward to eating.
Can I import recipes from any website?
The Meal Plan Vault’s AI-powered recipe import works with over 500 recipe websites and food blogs. Simply paste the URL of any recipe page and our system automatically extracts the title, ingredients list, step-by-step instructions, serving size, prep and cook times, and nutritional information. The AI is smart enough to distinguish recipe content from ads, comments, and other page elements. Beyond website import, The Meal Plan Vault also supports photo import — you can snap a picture of a handwritten recipe card, a cookbook page, or even a recipe from a magazine, and the AI extracts everything into a clean, searchable digital recipe. You can also manually enter recipes or import them in bulk from other recipe management apps. All imported recipes are fully editable, so you can adjust ingredients, scale servings, add personal notes, and organize them into collections and tags.
Is The Meal Plan Vault free?
Yes, The Meal Plan Vault offers a generous free plan that you can use indefinitely. The free plan includes up to 50 recipes in your vault, basic weekly meal planning with our calendar view, standard grocery list generation, and 3 AI cooking assistant queries per day. No credit card is required and there are no time limits on the free plan. For households that need more, the Pro plan at $9.99 per month unlocks unlimited recipes, AI-powered recipe import from any website, and unlimited AI assistant queries. The Household plan at $14.99 per month adds household voting, AI photo recipe extraction, custom cookbook printing, analytics and insights, and priority support. All paid plans come with a 14-day free trial — full access to every feature with no credit card required. We also offer annual billing that saves approximately 20 percent compared to monthly payments.
Can I use Claude, ChatGPT, or other AI apps with The Meal Plan Vault?
Yes — this is the point of the product, not a bolt-on. The Meal Plan Vault includes a built-in MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so any MCP-compatible AI app — Claude Desktop and Claude.ai, Claude Code, ChatGPT Connectors, Cursor, Goose, Zed, and many others — can plug directly into your account. Setup is one URL: paste https://www.mealplanvault.com/mcp into your client, sign in, and approve the connection. Once connected you can say things like “plan dinners for next week using leftover chicken,” “generate a grocery list from this week's meal plan,” “add chicken thighs and lemons to my Sunday list,” or “save this recipe I just found” — and the agent reads and updates your real meal plans, recipes, and grocery lists. Connection is one-click via OAuth 2.1 with no API keys to copy, every call the agent makes is logged on the Agents page in your dashboard, and you can revoke a connection at any time. The MCP server is included on every plan, including the free plan, at no extra cost.
How is The Meal Plan Vault different from other meal planning apps?
Most meal planning and recipe apps like Paprika, Plan to Eat, and Mealime are designed for individual cooks tapping through their own recipe collections. The Meal Plan Vault differs in two ways. First, it is agent-native: a built-in MCP server exposes the app's own tools to any AI agent you connect, so planning the week, importing a recipe, or building the grocery list is something you can delegate in a sentence instead of doing by hand — and an audit log shows exactly what the agent did. Competing apps offer no agent interface at all, which leaves an AI assistant guessing from screenshots or retyping your plan into a chat window. Second, it is built for households rather than solo cooks. Every feature revolves around collaboration: household voting lets all members participate in deciding what to eat, shared grocery lists update in real time as anyone makes changes, and role-based permissions (admin, editor, viewer) ensure everyone participates at the right level. The AI cooking assistant Chef Ava understands your entire household’s preferences, dietary restrictions, and pantry inventory. Automated grocery lists are generated directly from your weekly meal plan and can be exported or shared with anyone. The pantry tracking feature helps reduce food waste by alerting you to expiring items and suggesting recipes that use what you already have. These household-focused capabilities are simply not available in individual recipe management apps.

Let it run the week, or run it yourself.

Point your agent at the vault and it plans, shops, and updates as things change. Open the app and everything is right there to edit, with the rest of the household in it too.
